In the past, the island was settled by the Phoenicians, who used it as a natural harbor for maritime trade. Later, the Crusaders built a fortress here to protect pilgrims traveling between Jerusalem and St. Catherine's Monastery. However, the Crusader rule on the island did not last long. The island fell into the hands of Sultan Saladin, who later added further fortifications to the original fortress.

Here you will find two coral reefs with a grassy strip about ten meters wide between them. It was precisely because of the space between the reefs that fishing nets often got tangled up here. And that is why the place is called Angel Network You can admire the rich marine life and beautiful corals.
The latter place is located about 15 kilometers from Taba and is called Fjord and is interesting in that a freshwater spring flows into the sea among the corals, creating mixed water in the middle of the sea.
